What is Jacky?
Jacky is a swaddle transition jacket designed to help your baby transition out of the swaddle. It offers calming, non-weighted support for the Moro (startle) reflex until it fades around 5-6 months.
What makes Jacky special?
As a nurse with over 25 years of hand-on experience caring for babies, I know that transitioning out of the swaddle can feel so tough for babies and their parents.
I created Jacky to help make the transition easier. Jacky is designed for babies who need to transition out of the swaddle but still benefit from calming support. What does that look like? Well, Jacky has layered (non-weighted) sleeves that help calm the Moro (startle) reflex. It's also perfectly safe, even for rolling babies, because they can use their arms to push up when they're on their belly.
The jacket-style design allows you to customize comfort for your baby. How? You can adjust what your baby wears under Jacky. Have a baby who runs warm? Jacky can be worn over a diaper or onesie. Have a colder home? Jacky can be layered with pajamas or a sleep bag. You get to make that decision. If you need help dressing your baby for sleep, this blog is here for you.
This design combined with a silent-seal closure instead of a zipper means that Jacky can also be adjusted to fit your baby from about 2 months until about 8 months. Jacky isn't just for those short few weeks while you're transitioning out of a swaddle. Your baby can keep wearing it until they're really ready for just a sleep bag.
What age is Jacky designed to fit?
Jacky is designed to fit most babies from about 2 months to about 8 months. But just so you know, in testing, Jacky safely fit a 8 pound baby and was still comfortable and safe for a 12 month old.
When should I start using Jacky?
We recommend swaddling with the b.e.s.t. swaddle from birth until your baby shows signs of rolling, which typically happens around 3-4 months. When you notice those signs, it's time to move out of the swaddle and into Jacky for safe, supported sleep.
Is Jacky weighted?
No. Jacky has layered sleeves that provide calming support without being weighted.
What is Jacky made of?
Jacky is made with premium, baby-safe materials that are both soft and functional:
Main Body: 93% Modal | 7% Spandex
This blend provides a buttery-soft feel and gentle stretch for a snug, comfortable fit. Modal is a breathable fabric made from natural beech tree pulp. It’s also Oeko-Tex® certified, meaning it’s been tested for safety and is free from harmful substances which makes it perfect for a baby’s sensitive skin.
Silent-Seal Panels and Filling: 100% Polyester
These panels create a secure, quiet closure without the loud ripping sound of Velcro. The filling in the arms muffles the startle reflex without any added weight or taking away your baby's ability to bend their arms and push up when on their belly.
This means Jacky is safe and soothing, designed for both baby’s comfort and parents’ peace of mind.
What is Oeko-Tex ® Certified Modal?
Modal is a type of fabric made from natural beech tree pulp. It’s known for being exceptionally soft, breathable, and gentle on sensitive skin, which makes it a perfect choice for baby products like swaddles and our Jacky.
When we say our Modal fabric is Oeko-Tex® certified, it means it’s been tested by the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, one of the most respected and globally recognized safety standards for textiles. This certification guarantees that every component of the fabric is free from harmful substances, including pesticides, heavy metals, and other chemicals that could be irritating or unsafe for babies.
In simple terms: Oeko-Tex® certified Modal means ultra-soft, breathable fabric that’s safe, non-toxic, and made with your baby’s health in mind.
What are the care instructions? How do I wash it?
You can wash Jacky in the washing machine separately on a gentle cycle with cold water. We recommend laying it flat to dry to help preserve the quality of the fabric and the integrity of the silent-seal closure. If needed, you can tumble dry on low, but line drying is the gentlest option!
If you notice lint buildup on your silent-seal (or feel like it isn't sticking quite as well), grab a lint roller. Unlike traditional Velcro, where you have to pick lint out with your fingers, the silent-seal just needs a few swipes with a lint roller, and it's good to go.
